RYDE is rivalling Brighton as the country’s mod mania capital after it hosted arguably its most well attended bank holiday scooter weekend yet.
Thousands of scooterists descended on the Isle of Wight for the annual August extravaganza, which featured plenty of live music, the International Custom Show and the rally.
Ryde seafront and Smallbrook Stadium, Ashey, were the hubs for scooterists, which both hosted events for mods and scooter enthusiasts.
LA Bowl’s bar area and The Balcony Bar on Ryde Esplanade were packed venues for live music, each day and night.
The musical highlight was Specials-influenced Island combo, Ska’d for Life, who played at the Balcony Bar on Friday.
"It was wild — just like a Specials gig back in the day. The crowd went absolutely crazy and created a brilliant atmosphere. The band said it was one of the best gigs they ever played," said event organiser Steve Robson.
