NEW RECORD SET IN ROUND THE ISLAND RACE 1st July 2017

A NEW record was set in the Round the Island Race.

After a flying start in favourable winds by the MOD70 Concise 10, with rapid progress down the back of the Island, it crossed the line in 2hrs 22mins and 23sec to beat Phaedo’s record, set last year, by exactly one minute this morning.
In a field of 1,342 entries, the Concise 10 team, skippered by Ned Collier-Wakefield, finished at 8.02am.  
The leading monohull, Highland Fling XI, crossed the finish line at 9.49am in a time of 4.19.44. 
Gladiator, the TP52, finished as second placed monohull. 
Also crossing the finish line to take third was Tonnerre 4, Piet Vroon’s custom Ker 51, in a time of 5.16.35.Round the Island race
