Everything you need mins walk from cottage – beach – shops – cafes – pubs

This delightful Victorian detached three bedroom cottage is ideally located a few minutes’ walk from Bembridge beach, village shops, cafes and pubs. Walks from cottage include Bembridge Windmill, Lifeboat Station, beach cafes and RSBP Brading Marsh.

A sensitive renovation in 2020 we aimed to provide a space to relax and unwind. We uncovered it’s original features while adding modern conveniences. Period paint colours act as the backdrop for a considered interior of vintage, upcycled, bespoke items and some original artwork.

Open the front gate into the secluded pretty cottage garden. The brick path leads through the front door into a cosy cottage. Left turn and enter a spacious brick tile floor country style Kitchen/Dining Room. Two exposed brick fireplaces – one with Aga, separate electric oven/gas hob. The well-equipped kitchen provides everything for a snack to roast dinner and dishwasher. The traditional table comfortably seats six.

Off the Kitchen is the Utility Room, with washing machine and tumble dryer. The back door provides access down steps to the back patio. The shower/toilet room is off the Utility Room. Original glass doors separate the Kitchen/Dining room and bright Conservatory, with 4 comfy chairs and bench seating. Conservatory doors open onto the front spacious patio and roof blinds provide respite from sun.

Right of the front door is the main Reception room with wood burning stove in old brick fireplace, curl up on the window seat or watch the Smart television or a DVD.

The old wood staircase (quite steep) from the hall leads too three bright bedrooms and a family bathroom. All rooms have original wood floors. Main Bedroom with king size bed, a washbasin, original fireplace and sea view. A second Double Bedroom with exposed original ceiling beams and a washbasin. The third Bedroom with 2 single beds, original fireplace and sea views. All bedrooms have blackout curtains with plenty of drawer and wardrobe space. The stylish bathroom has original ceiling beams, a separate shower and bath.

Outside

The sunny cottage garden is terraced and fully fenced – with two IoW stone patios and abundance of trees, plants and shrubs. Access back patio from the Utility Room and access front patio from the Conservatory. Both patios offer a table and 4 chairs for morning coffee or meals. Refresh under the hot/cold outdoor shower and enjoy a barbeque (charcoal). Chill in a vintage deckchair x 2 or lounger x 2 and watch the red squirrels.

Parking for one car directly outside the cottage – free parking available in the village

“It was a lovely cottage, we so enjoyed staying there.  It was very comfortable, we loved that there was such a choice of places to sit; kitchen and outside were of course primary choice and the lovely conservatory for evening drinks.  The kitchen was really well appointed and we felt very at home in the property.  It was also so convenient for us, I hope we may return in the future”.

Address: Kings Road, Bembridge, Isle of Wight

Many thanks. We had a great time. All six 6 of us, from 3 & 8-year olds to oldies, found the cottage charming, as well as being fully functional, & having the great location for the shops, sea  buses etc. The back footpath was good too.

Such a cute cottage! Stayed here with our in-laws and it was perfect. Lots of cozy character and each room had its own sink which was a nice feature. Lovely place to explore the island! Thank you for having us, it was lovely!

Eleanor September, 2022

We absolutely loved Elm Cottage and the generous, thoughtful touches from the owner such as the wine, the eco friendly products in the utility room and the bathroom that my daughter loved ! Please do pass on our thanks, we will definitely be back !

Fantastic place to stay, the kitchen/dining room area was big with a conservatory and living room in addition.
The kitchen is well equipped, with all types of utensils, bowls, jugs etc that you’d need, as well as a good range of plates and cups. There are only two hob rings so a big meal would be difficult to cook, thankfully we had wonderful weather and had a bbq every night. The bbq supplied is a decent size. Lots of outdoor seating and two tables which is great.
There’s a co-op just up the road and a very good local fishmonger, it was a great place to stay.
